Stopped in on a recent Thursday for lunch, around 2:30pm... Sat at the bar, bartender was busy flirting with the drunks who I figured were regulars. After a few minutes she asks what I wanted, how about a menu? Ordered the spicy roast beef sandwich. Au jus was lukewarm at best and lacked flavor. Hardly any meat at all on the sandwich and some of homemade chips were underdone, soggy and floppy really. Not impressed. Bartender kept trying to get me to do shots and seemed miffed every time I declined. I don't see what the big deal is about this place... Decor was bland, menu was outdated, beer list was mediocre at best. The only positive thing that I can say is that the condition of the bathroom was immaculate. The overall impression that I got from this place was not a favorable one. Do yourself a favor and go to Uccello's instead. Better food, better prices, better service.... Hmm I wonder what kind of passive aggressive BS the owner will write about this one?

Great pizza. Awesome beer list. Summer on the open air patio. Mandy and Courtney are professional bartenders and customer centric. My go-to place on every trip to the area.

The service at this bar was terrible. We went to this bar at 8:00pm after a baseball game to enjoy some beer and pizza and got complaints that our table was loud and that the restaurant refused to service us. At no point did a manager come to speak to us about our "inappropriate" behavior until they cut us off. This "bar" is a sad excuse as such and should not have to liberty of being located next to a ball field. I will never return and will continue to tell people of my awful experience here. Two thumbs down.

Nothing special. They deliver in 15 min, when they say 40, that's annoying. Pizza isn't bad.

Very nice setting, live music that wasn't overbearing, fantastic food and great service. Couldn't ask for much more from a local restaurant.

I grew up in Comstock Park. I have always had a special place in my heart for this Vitale's location, as I grew up right around the corner and frequented all through my high school years and beyond. I came back to CP and met up with a friend last Saturday and had a couple beers and we split a pizza. The pizza was great. Beers were good and decently priced. Two things are irritating me about our visit. One was that they got rid of two of the three pool tables. The one remaining pool table is right next to the entrance and there are always people coming in and out or just mulling around and getting in the way. I'm not a serious pool shark but it seems like they placed it there as an after thought and just wanted to get the other two tables out of the way to make room for more seats. Second was that when we went to pay our tabs and leave, we asked our waitress for the pizza to be split between our two bills and we each pay for our own drinks. No problem, should be simple enough, and the waitress was more than happy to split it up for us. We both paid with our debit cards and left separate tips. I checked my online banking the next day and both charges, my friends and mine, are pending on my account. My friend calls Vitale's and speaks with their accountant. She says not to worry, that the charges were still pending and that happens sometimes... I've been out many places and never had that happen before where everyone else's tab shows up on my debit card the next day, pending or otherwise. Anyway, another 24 hours goes by and the charges are now solidified on my card, no longer just pending. They charged me for the whole pizza, all the drinks, and both tips. Now, I don't mind buying my friend a meal, but it's the principle of the whole thing. What's the point of me signing the receipt saying they can take out a certain amount from my account if they then just do whatever they please anyway? I called again yesterday and left a message for their accountant and still haven't heard back. Seems very unprofessional to me and they appear to be blowing me off. Not cool to treat a customer, especially a hometown boy like myself, this way. Edit- The accountant for Vitale's called me back and verified it was a mistake on their end. They swiped my card twice instead of mine and his separately. She didn't come right out and offer any compensation to offset our troubles, but when I asked for a full refund for my friend and myself for the inconvenience, she was happy to oblige. As long as the charges are reversed, like she said they would be, I am happy to up my review from 1 to 3 stars. Still think the pool table layout could be better and I personally don't think a mix-up like we had with our cards should EVER happen at a professional restaurant. I will visit in the future and give them another shot.

I just moved to the area and was told by coworkers to try this place out. I did and brought visiting family with. We sat in the outdoor patio area during a not so busy time. The food was fantastic for all of us. Our server was scarce but she did a decent job. We get their pizza delivered to my place of business quite often. Which is wonderful and cheesy. Over all it was a good place to eat and meet with friends and family.

Decided to give this place another chance tonight, only to arrive into the take out area which provides a good view of the kitchen workers. I was greeted by a slob of a man full of star tattoos on his neck who for some reason believed he was king of the kitchen and rang out the largest snot ridden sneezes in the middle of the kitchen with out even the courtesy to cover his mouth while in front of customers. It is probably a good thing that the drunks in the main eating room do not see the unprofessional slobs preparing their food. And who is the boss of this slob? I suspect he is probably the supervisor simply by his demeanor. He acted as he didn't give rip. They need to put up a wall so that customers can't see their slobs in the kitchen. That's just a recommendation for their future customers because I certainly will not be one of those. Wow. Disgusting, pitiful establishment.

My wife brought home some wings one night and they were the bomb. They were so good that we ended up going there one Sunday after church just for the wings. I have not had anything else nor do I really intend to. This is now one of my go to places for wings. Oh, they're battered and fried and then coated in sauce (in my case Barbeque).

There are many Vitale's and various family member ownedoffshoot bars in GR, but this one is the best. Why? I will tell you. It is the best because of the kick ass outdoor seating that they added a couple years ago, complete with tons of nice TVs (it is a sports bar after all), a second full bar, heaters in the spring and fall, and lots of tables and bar seating. Now, the view isn't going to compare with the piers in Mystic, CT, but there are so few quality outdoor drinking opportunities in GR, it is best to accept what we are given. It is also the best Vitale incarnation beause of the vast array of MI beers to blend in with the Big 3's garbage. They have some rarities on the beer menu for a place that seems to cater more toward the BL and ML crowd. It is the best because of its proximity to the Whitecaps baseball park. Great spot to stop for a pre- and post-game drink. Yes, real drinkers stop for a pregame and a postgame. Now, the other Vitales can't be held accountable for geography, but this is my review and they can suck it. Finally, it is the best because it has really good pizza and some quality appetizers. The most recent pizza I had there was one that made me question myself "Why don't I come here or order take out more often?" Check out Vitale's in Comstock Park on St. Patrick's Day too. You don't have to stay all day, but go there for the music between 4 and 6pm before it gets balls crazy.

We swung through GR on our way up north, and once again, Yelp did not let me down. It's a pretty clean sports bar and not too crowded when we were there. I will agree with everyone that their pizza is damn good. It's not Chicago-style, however. We visit GR really infrequently but I wouldn't mind checking out Vitale's again.

A large group of 21 showed up on a busy Friday late afternoon (Oct 15, 5:30pm) for a family meal, a few drinks, and some football watching. After a wait of about 15 minutes (not bad) they cleared a long table for all of us. It had been years since I was in a Vitale's since I now live out of town but was impressed that Vitale's great food and FULL MENU is available even though this is billed as a sports lounge. All the meals were terrific and most everyone ordered different dishes. I have never had this good of food at a sports bar. We were quickly served except for some salads that were late. The wait staff (I'm sorry that I did not get thier names) was very apologetic and took all the salads and soft drinks off the bill! If you want lots of room, friendly staff and patrons, plenty of large screen TV's, and good food and drink then this is the place.

A busy, sometimes noisy, perfectly acceptable place to down a few brews and while away an evening. Cheap beer specials. A great $5 food special menu and pretty good pizza makes this a nice evening's destination. We go there every Monday night to play Team Trivia and it's always hard to get a good parking spot. They have a nice outdoor seating area, with bar, that closes it's walls for the cooler seasons. service is usually of the smiling, friendly variety. Hard to beat their $5 burger with choice of 2 toppings (bacon and olives for me) and $5 personal pizzas. Also offered are wings, taco salad, and a couple more items which escape me. If you don't see the $5 menu ask. You could do much worse than drop a few quid here of an evening.

In an era where a hungry diner can easily blow $10-$12 on fast food per person, this place's lunch buffet is a great deal. The food is excellent and they serve different things every day, which is rare at a buffet. With my work colleagues, I bet I've eaten lunch here 70 times in the past three years. As a guy who can effortlessly down two large sandwiches at Arby's, Wendy's, McDonald's or Burger King, I would normally spend about $12 to eat fast food. I can eat here with a good tip for less than that with superior food.

The atmosphere is great. The new menu and prices are not worth the drive, a,d the service was slow. The place was empty. Not in my choices of places to go out anymore.

I recently got some coupons in the mail for Vitales and attempted to use one for a large pepperoni pizza for $9.99. The coupon read "Pick-Up or Delivery Only - Limited Delivery Range - $2.00 Delivery Charge." Obviously, delivery was implied. Yet, the clerk told me the coupon was for pick-up only. When I read what the coupon said, he said the manager told him "pick-up only." Not honoring coupons is a poor business practice. They have good food, don't get me wrong, but I haven't found them to be very customer friendly.

Had the risotto and the fettuccine alfredo. The risotto was OK, the fettuccine was okay as well. Had the fried ravioli - that was freaking delicious!! Erika P was a fabulous waitress and did great with a huge group of 16 (with basically 8 different tabs). The checks were split perfectly the first time and the refills were always on time! Didn't have to wait too long for a table for a big group. Looking forward to coming here again!

Even though they are open unit 2am, delivery is cut off at 12:30 (at least thats what the high lazy high school a-hole told me at 12:33). Besides that, the pizza really isn't that great.

This is BY FAR the cleanest and best run of all the Vitales locations. I've come here several times for the lunch buffet and because they have NTN Buzztime Trivia. Overall, the buffet is pretty good, but has its off days (today was an off day. I'll explain in a bit). Service is usually good but the bartender can be slow if they are busy with too many tables. The restaurant always seems clean and is comfortable. I've never ordered off the menu since the buffet is usually a pretty good spread of entrees and sides with a constant selection of pizzas and breadsticks and a fairly comprehensive salad table. On Fridays there is always a fish option should that be of importance to you (once they had Smelt and it was crazy good!). Some of my favorites include the Mini Wet Burritos and the Italian Meatloaf. The pizza is ok, but they tend to use WAY too much sauce and its overwhelmingly sweet. The breadsticks are usually fresh and tasty. I would suggest taking a look before committing, though. For instance, today's selections were all subpar. The fish was overcooked, the Dirty Rice was mushy, the tortellini was bland, and I just wasn't feeling BBQ Chicken or Corn on the cob. So, all on all, it's worth a visit, but eyeball the buffet before you order.
